-   Dear costumer,

Mandriva Linux includes tools to ensure that your software is updated. A easy
way of updating the software within your Flash key is to use Mandriva's
Control Center ('Menu' -> 'Tools' -> 'System Tools' -> 'Configure Your
Computer'). Select the 'Software Management' tab and on the right side select
the 'Update your system' icon. The program will add the proper repositories
(if they have not been added previously) and update the list of available
updates. You can then select each package individually and click 'Update', or
select all packages and update the entire system. It is recommended that you
perform this procedure at least once a week.

Linux is known to be more stable and secure than Microsoft Windows. Because
it is not as widely spread as Windows, viruses and other kind of "Malware" is
made only for Windows systems. This said, even a not-updated Linux system is
more secure than a fairly updated Windows system. There are some tips that,
on e followed will grant even more security to your system:

- Never run a program as privileged ('root') user. This is specially
dangerous for programs that access the internet. The 'root' user should only
be used for maintenance, such as installing, removing or updating a program.
When you do need privileged access, you will be asked for the 'root' password.
- Don't install packages (RPMs) or other kind of software from third-party.
All software made available for Mandriva Linux is distributed using our
repositories. You can add software to your system using the 'Mandriva Control
Center'.
- While browsing on the Internet, never visit suspicious web-sites that
require that you install a program on your system. Most of the common browser
add-ins (such as Adobe Flash) are already installed on your system.
- Keep your system updated. Every security update made available for the
programs in Mandriva Linux is immediately made available through our
repositories.

Following those simple directives you will have a 100% "bullet-proof' system.
